About us
Aikido Hawkes Bay has been open for the best part of 25 years. During that time there have been three instructors.
The present Sensei, Stephen Farrell took over as instructor in 2000.
Sensei Farrell started training in Aikido at the Palmerston North Academy of Aikido in 1990, under the instruction of Sensei Steve Shaw.
Sensei Farrell's approach to Aikido is from that of athlete, he has been training in Aikido for sixteen years and has been teaching for the last 8 years. His rank is Ni Dan.
Aikido Hawkes Bay has been affiliated to the Palmerston North Academy of Aikido since 2000.
The club moved from Hastings to Napier in 2001 and is now located in the Mahora Hall Greenmeadows.
Aikido Hawkes Bay Kids classes started in 2006. We have at present 12 members and the class is growing. Aikido is a great way for your child to gain self-confidence and discipline in a safe environment. Both girls and boys can benefit from learning Aikido. Aikido does not rely on strength, rather on technique and the flow of energy, making it excellent for young and old alike.
